I made a deal with my husband. We would skip the CSA this year if we could regularly go to the farmers' market. I loved working at the CSA farm last year, but I missed going to the farmers' market (we had more than enough produce each week in our basket).
If you live in Madison, you know we have the best farmers' markets. We are home to the largest producer-only market, which is a super big deal. Thousands head out to the market at the Capitol Square every Saturday, but honestly.. it's too crowded, even for me and I don't mind a crowd. My husband gets very anxious in a crowd, so I wanted to find a market that is enjoyable for everyone.
There are several smaller markets in the suburbs surrounding Madison and even in Madison. The market we have been going to is the Westside Community Market. It really has had everything we've needed so far- produce, flowers, plants, coffee, baked goods and even locally-made salami and is just two rows of stalls with plenty of room for kids to roam a little. LOVE.
